Everything growing brands ask, in one place

Pricing, compliance, formats, print, operations. The questions we hear most from founders and procurement teams.

Buying & pricing

Minimum orders, pricing response times, payment terms, and how the quote process works.

What are your minimum order quantities?

We work to three minimum orders. Plain stock starts at £250 across any combination of our 9 standard SKUs. Custom print on standard tooled sizes starts at £1,000. Custom print on bespoke dimensions starts at £1,750. Rollstock custom print is £1,000 single-tier.

How quickly do I get pricing?

Plain stock pricing comes back within 24 hours of your enquiry. Custom print follows a 15-minute discovery call to confirm specs, then a detailed quote within 1 business day.

Do you charge for samples?

No. Sample packs of our 9 standard SKUs are free with no postage charge. Dispatched within 2-3 working days across UK and EU.

What payment terms do you offer?

Standard terms are full prepayment, or 50% deposit with 50% on dispatch. Both options are available across plain stock and custom print.

Do you offer credit terms?

Yes, by arrangement for established customers. Credit terms are not standard for first-time orders.

How does the quote process work?

Submit a short enquiry form. A team member reviews and comes back within 24 hours to schedule a 15-minute discovery call. The call confirms your SKU range, volumes, certifications, and timeline. A detailed quote follows within 1 business day.

Can I order a single SKU or do I need to order across the range?

Single SKU orders are fine for plain stock from £250 minimum. For custom print, the £1,000 minimum applies across one or multiple SKUs in a single production run.

Compliance

PPWR, EPR, OPRL, 2D barcodes, BRCGS, and where Multiprint's scope starts and ends.

Will my pouches meet PPWR by 2030?

Our recyclable substrates are designed to meet incoming PPWR recyclability requirements. Stand-up and rollstock are available in PE, PP, PP/PE blended, and paper. Flat bottom is mono-PE. Confirm your structure at quote stage so we map the right substrate to your category and barrier.

Which substrates qualify for lower UK EPR fees?

Recyclable mono-PE, mono-PP, PP/PE blended, and paper substrates qualify for lower modulated fees. Multi-material laminates (PET/PE, PET/AL/PE) attract higher fees.

Can I get OPRL labels on my pouches?

Our recyclable substrates accommodate OPRL labelling for OPRL member brands. You apply your OPRL classification at artwork stage based on your own membership. Substrates that aren't classified as recyclable don't carry recyclable claims.

Are your pouches food-contact compliant?

Yes. All substrates and inks meet EC 1935/2004 and UK retained law for food contact across dry, oily, acidic, and aqueous food categories. Declaration of Compliance documentation is available on request.

Do I need to switch to 2D barcodes for Sunrise 2027?

Not yet. Sunrise 2027 is a point-of-sale capability milestone, not a brand packaging deadline. Most UK brands plan a 3-5 year dual-marking transition with both 1D and 2D codes on the same pack. We accommodate GS1 QR with Digital Link and GS1 DataMatrix at artwork stage so you can transition on your timeline.

What certifications do you hold?

We supply BRCGS-certified packaging where retail customers require it. BRCGS covers food safety and packaging hygiene across the supply chain. Confirm your certification needs at quote stage.

Do you advise on labelling claims or regulatory submissions?

We handle the pouch. Your regulatory team handles the content. We don't review nutrition labels, INCI lists, EFSA claims, MHRA submissions, FEDIAF or PFMA formulations, or HFSS classifications. We accommodate the artwork your regulatory team approves.

Format & substrate

Which format fits, what substrates we supply, customisation options, and closure choices.

Which format should I choose for my product?

Most buyers fit one of three patterns. Stand-up pouches suit retail and DTC across 50g to 2kg with strong shelf presence and resealable closures. Flat bottom pouches suit larger volumes, premium positioning, and coffee with degassing valves. Rollstock suits high-volume form-fill-seal production lines for snacks, sachets, and stick packs. We map your format at quote stage.

What's the difference between stand-up, flat bottom, and rollstock?

Stand-up pouches have a base gusset that opens when filled and a heat-sealed top. Flat bottom pouches have a structured base and five panels for premium shelf presence. Rollstock is unformed flexible film supplied on rolls for form-fill-seal machinery, the most cost-efficient route at scale.

What substrate options do you offer?

For stand-up pouches, mono-PE, PP/PE blended structures, and paper, all with optional barrier coatings. For rollstock, mono-PP, PP/PE blended structures, and paper. Flat bottom pouches are mono-PE only. Multi-material laminates are available on request where barrier or shelf life needs demand them, though our recyclable range covers most market applications.

Can I customise dimensions?

Yes, on Tier 3 custom print at £1,750 minimum. New tooling is required, so lead times are longer than Tier 2 standard sizes. For most launches, our 5 stand-up and 4 flat bottom standard sizes cover the brief without bespoke tooling.

What closures are available?

Press-to-close zips, pocket zips, powder-proof zips, child-resistant zips, and easy tear. Tear notches and degassing valves available across most formats. We recommend the right closure at quote stage based on your product type.

Can I add a window panel?

Yes, on most stand-up pouch and flat bottom pouch formats. Window panels are common on supplements, snacks, and confection where the product itself is the visual cue.

What barrier options are available?

Standard barrier coatings cover oxygen, moisture, and aroma protection across all recyclable substrate families. For higher-barrier needs like vitamins, premium coffee, and sensitive supplements, barrier can be delivered as a coating, integrated within print layers, built into the sealant, or as a dedicated barrier layer in the structure. Multi-material laminates are also available where performance demands it, with the recyclability trade-off discussed at quote stage.

Print & artwork

Print technologies, artwork requirements, colour matching, proofs, and finishes.

What print technologies do you offer?

Three print technologies under one supplier: digital, HD flexo, and rotogravure. Digital handles short runs and photo-quality work. HD flexo handles medium to high volumes with photo-quality print. Rotogravure delivers the highest fidelity at the highest volumes. We match the press to your run rather than forcing you onto a single technology.

Which print technology is right for me?

Digital suits short runs, launches, and SKU testing. It also enables make-to-demand production with minimal stock holding, low or no tooling cost on artwork or legal changes between runs, and marketing agility for seasonal variants, A/B testing, or campaign SKUs. HD flexo suits medium to high volumes where photo-quality print at competitive cost matters. Rotogravure suits the highest volumes where the lowest per-unit cost and highest print fidelity are required. Our tooling and MOQ structure opens gravure to growing brands earlier than most suppliers. We recommend the right press at quote stage.

Do you offer design services?

No. We're not designers, we translate your designs into production files ready for print. Your design agency or in-house designer supplies the artwork. We handle dieline mapping, pre-press, plate separations, and print production. If you need a packaging design partner, we can refer you to specialists we work with.

What file format and colour setup do you need?

Adobe Illustrator (.ai) is the preferred working format, with all links embedded and fonts outlined. PDF/X-4 is the recommended print-ready PDF standard because it preserves transparency, ICC profiles, and modern PDF features. PDF/X-1a and EPS are accepted as legacy formats.
Digital print requires CMYK files. HD flexo and rotogravure require CMYK plus Pantone separations. For print on clear or metallic substrates, a separate white plate with knockout or reverses is needed. Pantone colours can be matched in CMYK in most cases. Spot varnishes and white layers are supplied as separate plates. We handle grip and trap for registration in pre-press.

What artwork best practices should I follow?

Images at 300dpi minimum, all fonts outlined (live fonts are the single biggest cause of artwork rejection), and artwork laid on the dielines we provide with bleed. Position-critical features are marked on the dieline. Move fine text away from seal areas, and avoid placing logos or key text over zipper zones. Barcodes should be sized at 84% of GS1 standard or larger for reliable retailer scanning. If your artwork isn't print-ready, we can refer you to a packaging artwork specialist.

Can you match my brand colours?

We match Pantone references on HD flexo and rotogravure with spot colour plates. Digital uses extended CMYK and gets close on most colours, but for critical brand colours and metallic finishes we recommend HD flexo or rotogravure. We confirm colour matching at proof stage.

Do you provide print proofs?

Yes. Soft proofs (PDF) are our standard for artwork sign-off, the fastest route to approval. Epson contract proofs are available on request for critical colour matching. First production run samples can be supplied before main dispatch on request. Most brands settle on soft proofs once we've built a working relationship, since speed to market matters more than extra proofing steps for most growing CPG launches.

What finishes are available?

Gloss, matte, soft-touch, and spot varnish are available on Tier 2 and Tier 3 custom print across stand-up and flat bottom formats. Finishes are confirmed at artwork stage.

How many colours can you print?

Digital handles full-colour process printing. HD flexo and rotogravure handle process colours plus spot colours, white, and varnish, with exact colour count confirmed at quote stage. Colour count affects tooling cost on flexo and gravure.

Operations

Lead times, shipping, delivery, and order tracking.

What are your lead times?

Lead times vary by format and production region, all in working days plus shipping. Stand-up and layflat pouches run 15-20 days in EU and 20-25 days in Asia. Flat bottom pouches run 25-40 days in EU or Asia, with no UK production for flat bottom. Rollstock runs 10-15 days in UK or EU. Plain stock dispatches within 2-3 working days from UK warehouse. Timing is confirmed at quote stage based on artwork readiness, print technology, and volume.

How does shipping work?

We coordinate freight, customs, and final-mile delivery on DDP (delivered duty paid) terms by default, so you get a single landed cost rather than separate freight bills. EXW (ex works) is available where you prefer to arrange your own freight. For Asia production, three freight tiers are available (express air, premium sea, and standard sea), costed at quote stage based on urgency.

Can I split delivery across multiple locations?

Yes. Multi-site delivery is available on custom print orders. Specify destinations at quote stage so freight can be costed accordingly. Plain stock orders ship from a single UK dispatch point.

Do you offer express production?

Digital print is the fastest route for short-notice runs because setup is minimal, useful for launches, seasonal SKUs, and time-sensitive campaigns. For HD flexo and rotogravure, lead times reflect press scheduling and tooling availability. Flag urgency at quote stage and we'll show you the realistic options.

What happens if my order is delayed?

We communicate delays as soon as we know about them. Most delays trace to artwork sign-off, freight disruption, or substrate availability. Production-side delays are rare and we manage them with priority. We don't surprise customers with last-minute timing changes.

Can I track my order?

Yes. You'll receive shipping confirmation with tracking details once your order dispatches. For production milestones (artwork approval, plate proofing, press date, dispatch date), we share updates by email at each stage.
